Open the downloaded fileVelaCode-mac.dmg — a window opens with the app.
Drag “Vela Code” into the Applications folderLike any Mac app.
Open it from Applications — macOS will block it the first timeYou'll see a notice that Apple can't verify it. Click “Done” (not “Move to Trash”).
Unblock it onceSystem Settings → Privacy & Security → scroll down to “‘Vela Code’ was blocked…” → “Open Anyway” → confirm with your password or Touch ID. On macOS 13/14 it's enough to: right-click the app → Open → Open.
Done — follow the assistantSign in with your account, paste your company token, or pick personal use. The app installs its engine and assistants by itself. Accept the microphone permission if you plan to use voice.
Why the block? The app is still going through Apple's certification. It's only the first time on each Mac; updates arrive on their own and never ask again. Requires a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later).
Download the installerIf the browser warns it “isn't commonly downloaded”: open the download menu (⋯) → Keep → “Keep anyway”.
Run VelaCode-win.exeIf the blue “Windows protected your PC” screen appears: click “More info” → “Run anyway”.
Follow the installerNext → Install → Finish.
Open Vela Code and follow the assistantYour own account, a company token, or personal use. If an assistant is missing (Claude), the app installs it by itself.
Why the warnings? The installer doesn't have a commercial Windows signature yet (in progress). It's only at install time; updates arrive on their own.
Double-click the fileThe system installer opens (App Center / GNOME Software) → Install button → type your password in the window that appears.
Open “Vela Code” from the app menuAnd follow the assistant: account, company token, or personal use. The assistants install themselves.
Alternative if the graphical installer doesn't open: sudo apt install ./VelaCode-linux.deb — the only case where a terminal is needed. Updates on Linux: for now download the new .deb from this same page and install it on top.
Working remotely? You can also use Vela Code Web without installing anything.
